Eight talented female Kickboxing players from Hooghly District proudly represented their district at the Khelo India Ashmita Games held at the Sports Authority of India, Kolkata, on 17th August 2025. The team, led by Coach Mrinmay Banerjee, delivered an outstanding performance, securing multiple medals across categories.

Expressing pride in the team’s achievements,Shihan Gaurav Goswami, the Founder President of WAKO Hooghly stated:

“Our district players have immense potential to win medals at both National and International levels. However, lack of funding continues to be a challenge. Despite this, we remain focused on the holistic development of each individual player, and the rest is a matter of destiny. The Central Government has been bringing forward some good initiatives for the growth of players, and we are hopeful for a brighter future.”

Kickboxing, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide. WAKO Hooghly remains the only official and recognized Kickboxing Association of Hooghly District, working tirelessly to nurture grassroots talent and create champions of tomorrow.
